What are MTS files?
MTS (MPEG transport stream) files are files with the extension .mts or .m2ts that are usually exported from video cameras. MTS was originally designed to be used in broadcasting but was later adapted for use in digital video cameras, recorders and players. MTS files are also used for Blu-ray discs and JVC’s HDD-based camcorders (GZ-HD7, etc) in which BDAV M2TS and TOD are respectively used. MTS can also be used to synchronize video streams in multi-camera shoots where several cameras are used all at once.
